By their very nature – Welfare Staff are not medical responders – whilst some may hold medical qualifications our Welfare Team Members work directly to support those on site who may need a bit of support whilst not being under the care of the medical team.
You can find out more about our welfare team HERE.
Team Leader
A Team Leader will be taken from the staff onsite and given the additional duty of operationally leading the team.
They maybe asked to lead a small team – say those working in one area of a larger event, or manage the entire team across a site.
Their role will often be liaison between the staff and the event organiser, to ensure staff have welfare breaks, ensure staff have the correct kit in the correct place.
They will also be the main point of contact on the event between the LMAS management and the staff on site.
Controller
The Event Medical Controller, normally used on larger events, will be assigned as the key liaison between the medical team and other teams (such as security/stewarding, welfare, and event management).
They maybe based within the medical area or in the event control room depending on the agreed plans and arrange dispatch of medical resources to incidents around the site, log patient contact and ensure that timely care is received by patients.
Our Event controllers all have extensive experience of working in control rooms, whether that is within the NHS or privately. They normally have an underling medical qualification so they understand what is happening on the ground.
